Margaret Pereboom was born on May 30, 1928, in Lusk, Wyoming. After receiving a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Texas, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and became one of the first women in the state to receive a license to practice psychology, with a practice that focused on children. Pereboom served on the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board from 1978 to 1982, when the desegregation case consumed the board. In 1986, she became the chair of a newly formed organization...
